Cherishing our Seniors
We run a seniors’ day at the church premises for those who are 80 plus. It runs from 10 am until 2 pm every Wednesday (just breaking occasionally during the holiday seasons), and enables friendships to be established and blossom among the guests, and with our host team each week. This is how one attendee described the meeting:
“Being the right age group, l went along to find a hall filled with elderly men and women sitting around big tables, all doing jigsaws, or scrabble or reading magazines or just talking to each other. Plenty of helpful staff kept coffee cups filled and generally cared for each one, till lunchtime when meals were served. Alternate weeks a short service drew people across to the church for a hymn, a thought and a prayer. With appreciation and goodbyes, their drivers collected them.”
